Jade, Infrared and our Cylinders

jade Aug 22, 2024

During lockdown I tried to be as productively as possible and looked more deeply into the stones we used in LaSone Therapy

Within LaStone we often talk about the spaces in- between, the pause between breath, between the treatment and the healing .

In advertising, where I worked for many years it was the white space, the space in between , that highlighted the words or graphics for marketing, in conversation its the pauses that often speak louder than the words.

So in that “space” taken out of normality I let the pause allow me to look at what we offer and how we can make it even more appropriate , to offer treatments that are adaptable

What don’t we offer that the therapists and their clients need.

I didn’t want to fill this gap with just anything, but with treatments that the clients wants, and needs, that aid all aspects of their wellbeing - Body , Mind and Spirit.

Over the years I have found that those wanting a deep tissue massage and in particular, men, have been slow to take up a LaStone Therapy treatment , wrongly thinking, I believe, especially with all the “hot stone” marketing, that Stone Therapy is a spa treatment and it also can’t be a therapeutic deep tissue one.

So during lockdown I did more research into a stone we had been using for many years - Jade - and found why we had found it so effective in our treatments. It has an innate natural healing property.

We knew that Jade bought a spiritual aspect to our treatments, the stone was adaptable as it can be used both heated and chilled, so could fill gaps in our stones sets when we needed a specific shape and temperature.

What I discovered ( not personally but through extensive research ) amazed me. Jade has the ability to both absorb and release Far-Infrared, which can travel 12-15cm deep into the tissue of the muscle .

Infrared has been used in many forms to aid and speed up the healing process of many conditions. It also has the ability to stimulate chemicals production the body to help cellular and vascular regeneration.

About the same time as I was researching Jade I sourced what now has become the newest stones in our collection - our Jade Cylinders.

These stones deliver the deepest treatment I have ever experienced with hardly any effort from the therapist.

As well as the natural healing Infrared benefits of the Jade, which we will go into greater details on the course , these cylinders allow the therapist to work deeply without tiring the hands or causing long term injuries. This is both good for the therapists, the client and if you employ therapists for you, as there will be reduction in work related injuries caused by deep tissue work.

Now therapists can give deep tissue treatments for longer periods of time with no reduction of pressure for the client, therapists will have a longer working life, they need not give up through their bodies not being able to deliver the treatments needed. Plus the treatments will be even more beneficial.

This has always been one of our core principles - to allow the therapist to deliver the treatments the clients need and want, while not damaging themselves in the process. This was the reason Mary Nelson started using the stones back in 1993 when the massage work she was delivering was having a negative impact on her body.

LaStones’ strength has always honoured traditional therapies, giving them the respect they deserve, but backing this up with science and results. Using Jade in our treatments is a prime example of this - Jade has been used in the Far East for thousands of years, we are bringing its use into the 21st century backed up with the whys and how’s.

One of the other benefits of using the Jade Cylinders apart from its Infrared properties, as apposed to say bamboo, is that the Jade can be sanitised and made Covid safe very easily, which in these times is very reassuring for the clients. When we looked into our sanitation methods, reassuringly we discovered they did not need to be changed to make sure all our stones and equipment was Covid safe, following our sanitation procedures.

Now we are back on the road to normal, having treatments is even more important than ever. Over the oats couple of years we have all suffered tactile deprivation. A basic human need, physical contact helps our mental, physical and spiritual health, and the stones bring that extra elusive something.

The subtle energy connection of the therapist, stones and client present in all our treatments donethjng the the client is often unaware of, helps heal the stress and in some cases trauma many have suffered over the past couple of years.

Utilising the experience and skills of our LaStone Instructors we put together a selection of strokes and protocols with the Jade and developed our new course. using the bespoke sizes

This course will be available as online instruction and face to face . Both include in the investment a set of Jade Cylinders and Sphere(s) with options to purchase other Jade stones.

These Stones and newly acquired skills can be offered as a stand alone treatment or added into your LaStone or Stone therapy treatment.
